Horizontal/Directional Drilling

horizontal drilling

Foundex has developed purpose‑built equipment and customized drilling methodologies that allow the advancement of shallow inclined to fully horizontal boreholes in both overburden and bedrock for a wide range of purposes (e.g., horizontal drain hole drilling and cleaning, geotechnical and mineral exploration, instrumentation).

The systems are engineered for accuracy, stability, and control in challenging geological conditions. Holes can be advanced using diamond core and casing tooling or air and mud rotary methods, achieving depths in excess of 300 meters while maintaining precise alignment and high‑quality sample recovery where required.

In addition to horizontal drilling, Foundex has utilized specialized tooling and procedures for true directional drilling applications. Using integrated custom assemblies with measure while drilling (MWD) steerable borehole assemblies and directional mud motors, these systems provide the ability to steer boreholes along engineered paths from the surface into deep hole environments, underground structures, tunnels, and other difficult‑access locations. This approach enables controlled deviation, predictable trajectory, and reliable target intersection, even in complex subsurface conditions.

These capabilities allow Foundex to support a wide range of project requirements within confined or sensitive environments. With decades of experience and a commitment to innovation, Foundex’s horizontal and directional drilling services support the precision and adaptability required for today’s most demanding subsurface challenges.
