Foundex has been performing vane shear testing since 1981, using the manual Geotech Nilkon vane system. In 1998, Foundex acquired the Geotech AB electronic field vane system, which interfaces directly with a computer for real‑time data acquisition during testing.
This advanced system controls an electric motor and chuck that rotates the vane at a consistent rate, while simultaneously recording torque values and rotation speed. The result is high‑resolution data that supports geotechnical analysis and soil strength evaluation in soft clays and other fine‑grained materials.
