The Becker Penetration Test (BPT) is a dynamic testing method that functions similarly to a small‑scale pile driving test. It is especially effective for evaluating the density of granular soils where conventional drive sampling, DCPT, and Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) may not be practical or reliable.

Using a diesel pile driving hammer, the BPT measures penetration resistance in terms of hammer blows per foot. These values are commonly correlated to estimate SPT N‑values in coarse‑grained soils and are used to evaluate pile drivability, penetration rates, and end‑bearing refusal elevations.

Foundex’s Becker Hammer drill is equipped with advanced instrumentation, including a bounce chamber pressure readout and pullback testing capabilities.
