Foundex performs Standard Penetration Testing (SPT) as part of drilling programs to support subsurface characterization and foundation investigations. SPT sampling is commonly completed in conjunction with rotary drilling methods and is used to evaluate penetration resistance and recover disturbed samples for classification and logging.
Where site conditions limit the effectiveness or representativeness of conventional SPT methods, Foundex also undertakes Large‑Diameter Penetration Testing (LPT). LPT techniques are typically applied in coarse‑grained soils, gravels, cobbles, or other challenging materials where standard split‑spoon sampling may be impractical. The use of larger‑diameter tooling allows penetration resistance testing to be completed while maintaining hole stability and supporting continued drilling progress.
SPT and LPT methods are selected based on project objectives, subsurface conditions, and consultation with clients, and may be integrated with other in‑situ testing and sampling techniques as required by the investigation program.
